Frequently Asked Questions.

What is the Davis® Mastery Program for Dyslexia?
The Dyslexia Program is 30 hours of intensive training working individually with a licensed Davis
® Mastery for Dyslexia Facilitator.  The Math and Attention Programs are both 35-50 hours of intensive training, depending on the students needs.  The programs use the unique learning style of the visual-spatial learner to correct the symptoms of dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, or attention difficulties.

What is involved in the program?
The program is intensive being done in one or two weeks. During this 30-50 hour intensive/one-on-one program, the client will first learn how to correct perception and disorientation at will. This is accomplished via Davis Orientation Counseling® - as outlined in The Gift of Dyslexia by Ronald D. Davis. The client will also learn Symbol Mastery® to master symbols in reading, writing, or math.

How is this program different from others?
The Davis® methods address the root cause of learning disabilities by using the natural strengths and talents of the client's learning in a fun and supportive environment!

The program does not use phonics, colored overlays, rote memorization, or repetitive drill - methods that only address the symptoms of Dyslexia, not the root cause - and are tedious/laborious for Dyslexics.

What is the cost of the Dyslexia program?
The 30-hour program is currently $3,600 which includes a $500 scheduling deposit.  The program includes all materials necessary and support training for the follow-up exercises.  In addition, 2-3 follow-up sessions are included as necessary.  (The Math program is up to 50 hours and currently $4800.)

If I can't afford a Dyslexia Program right now, what are some alternative ways to get help?
First, read the book The Gift of Dyslexia by Ron Davis which describes the program in fuller detail.  Then go to the website www.davismethod.com and purchase a kit for home use which includes the clay and necessary materials to do the program yourself.  I
f you get stuck after beginning the exercises, you may call for one free consultation or perhaps a hybrid program if needed.

What if I live out of your area?
There are so few facilitators available in California that students often travel long distances to complete a program.  Since the program is intensive and done in a week or two, most people get a hotel or Airbnb for the week.  Foresthill is a beautiful town in the mountains located between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe and has many Airbnb providers, Miner's Camp cabins, and Sugar Pine Lake camping opportunities, especially during the week.  Auburn is just 20 minutes down the mountain and offers a variety of hotels and restaurants, as well as hiking and recreation.  On rare occasions, programs can also be done on Zoom if necessary.

Does this program work with adults?
Yes! Ron Davis discovered the tools that allowed him to correct perception and read a book for the first time in his life when he was 38 years old. After his discovery, the program was further tested and developed by working with adult Dyslexic volunteers.
Motivated adults bring a level of maturity and self-awareness that make the program extremely rewarding and successful!

What can I expect to gain?

Clients leave the program with the tools of basic literacy–including:
– The ability to recognize and correct disorientations at will
– The ability to focus attention
– The knowledge of how to eliminate confusions in words and symbols
– Increased self-confidence and ability in reading, writing, math, or physical skills

Implementing the tools into every day life, as well as doing Davis Symbol Mastery® follow-up on trigger words, is necessary to ensure continued success with the program.

How much improvement in reading or writing can I expect?
There is usually a significant improvement by the last day of the program. This is a literacy jumpstart. Future progress is determined by the client's motivation, continued use of tools, and completion of Symbol Mastery® after the program.

How can we do a weeklong program when my child is in school?
A parent must ask the school for a short term independent study for one -two weeks so the child is totally focused on the program.  The teacher(s) will compile their work for the time away from school and the child must complete the school work and turn it in on the day they return.  That way the school gets their money because the child is not marked as absent and the parents will not have to go before the School Attendance Review Board.  If a student is local, it sometimes works well to take 2 weeks to do a program working 3 hours  in the morning and doing their school work in the afternoon.
